The tide had gone out, leaving small footprints in the sand \u2014 some made by birds, others by boots not much taller than the dunes. I followed them along the edge of the beach and realised that the youngest walkers of the Wirral notice things differently.<\/p><p><\/p><p>So I began keeping a second journal \u2014 a smaller one, with pages that might fit inside a child\u2019s rucksack.
